Rep. Rick Boucher, a 14 term Democrat representing Virginia’s 9th Congressional District, reportedly used campaign money to purchase a new car. Based on campaign finance disclosures, it appears that Boucher purchased a Ford Edge from a Ford dealership in southwest Virginia with $29, 352 in campaign money.
Boucher is in a tough race with Republican nominee Morgan Griffith to keep his seat. Boucher scored a “D” on the Liberty Central scorecard, and this race is considered one of Liberty Central’s Top Races. Griffith is currently the Majority Leader of the Virginia House of Delegates, and is campaigning to bring the same kind of budget cuts to the federal government that recently put the Virginia budget in the black, including a 10% pay cut for Congress.
