Liberty Central has been keeping track of the progress of Senate Joint Resolution 26, which would block the EPA from imposing a cap-and-trade-style carbon permitting process, through a simple regulation. While that resolution was scheduled to come to the Senate floor by June 7, Senator Murkowski – who is the sponsor – has agreed to hold a vote until June 10:
A bipartisan group of senators will move after the Memorial Day recess on a resolution to block the Environmental Protection Agency’s regulation of greenhouse gases.
It is uncertain whether the group will have the votes by the time the resolution comes to the Senate floor June 10, but it has stirred concern among environmentalists and the EPA.
The disapproval resolution, introduced by Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska), has 41 co-sponsors, including Democrats Ben Nelson of Nebraska, Mary Landrieu of Louisiana and Blanche Lincoln of Arkansas. Other co-sponsors include Saxby Chambliss (R-Ga.), Sam Brownback (R-Kan.) and Judd Gregg (R-N.H.).

Adding to the pressure is this month’s EPA ruling on greenhouse gases.
The regulatory agency said that, beginning July 2011, existing plants that increase greenhouse gas emissions by 75,000 tons annually will be required to get a permit, along with new sources that emit at least 100,000 tons per year.
This delay in the timing of the vote gives cap and trade opponents time to build support – by contacting Senators and letting their views known. If you don’t know how your Senator is planning to vote, give him or her a call today. Point out that this is a bipartisan measure – with several leading cosponsors from both major parties. And if you have plans to do much driving this summer, you have a particular reason to oppose this measure – which is bound to lead to higher gas prices.

Contact Congress and let them know! Telling our representatives what we think by calling/emailing is simple but powerful in numbers!
I am a supporter of Liberty Central, so long as you remain central and not leaning too far right. A public square has elements of all persuasions and Liberty Central needs to include those. If you are represented on Fox News, you need also to be represented on the PBS News Hour and CNN and then you will be a true Public Square. Limbaugh and Associates run down one track, and there are other tracks, not nearly as persuasive and informed however, but we all can listen and learn. Do not object to federal ideas and legislative positions merely to object, but represent yourselves with the more well thought answers to the issues or the problems using a more creative intellect. Learn to lead America forward and give it back to the people.
Well,
Why don’t you go to work for CNN, PBS, MSNBC, NBC, ABC, CBS. After all they seem to be leaning one way. Guess which way that is. Better yet, go work with Mark LLoyd. That might be good for you. Which way does he lean, by the way?
I feel like we’re in the land of opposites. Cap & Trade doesn’t cap anything thinking people want capped and the only trade involved is trading our freedoms for higher taxes. Who in their right mind is this stupid? Oh, wait, we’re talking about politicians here.

I have been in the renewable energy field for over 30 years. I am involved with hydroelectric power, wind power and biomass. I don’t look at renewable energy projects as the answer to saving our environment but promote these projects as being more cost effective to potential customers. If you cannot sell the energy at a competitive price and save customers money, you will never sell the energy. Cap and Trade will only make traders, some politicians and investors rich but at the same time will dramatically increase our electric rates, fuel costs, food costs and will lower the living standards of most Americans. The answer to reducing carbon, if that is the goal, is through competition. Let the markets compete on a level playing field. If there were no government subsidies for energy production, which includes fossil and renewable fuels, one would see that biomass would become a major competitor with gas and oil. Wind would be viable in many areas of the country, along with solar. One forgets that it isn’t just the renewable fuels that get subsidies. Coal, oil and natural gas production also receive billions annually from the government. Subsidies only destroy competition, which leads to programs like Cap and Trade. Look at Europe. Cap and Trade has increased their energy rates to the highest in the world and has had a major effect on their economic viability. Stop Cap and Trade. Stop Subsidies.
Has any one looked into the Chicago Climate Exchange and the people involved? Barack Obama, Al Gore, and Maurice Strong are all involved. Look up Maurice Strong on line. If the Cap and Trade Bill passes, these are the people that are going to make big money off it. Fanny Mae has invested along with Goldman Sachs. I think all this should be investigated before there is a vote taken on the Cap and Trade Bill in Congress.
